Journey Overview

Faith, history and Anatolian hospitality in one seamless journey

Five days in Upper Mesopotamia, where human history began. Stand before the 12,000-year-old megaliths of Göbeklitepe — the oldest known temple on Earth — cruise the Euphrates past the sunken minaret of Halfeti, and follow the footsteps of Abraham from the sacred fish lake of Sanliurfa to the beehive houses of Harran. The journey ends in golden-stoned Mardin, terraced above the endless Mesopotamian plain, with the ancient Syriac monastery of Deyrulzafaran and the flavours of Gaziantep, gastronomic capital of Türkiye, along the way.

Designed for partner agencies serving culture, archaeology and faith-tourism groups — a compact five-day loop through southeastern Türkiye that pairs the world's oldest temple with the biblical landscape of Abraham. Arrival at Gaziantep, departure from Mardin, with private guiding throughout.

And Terah took Abram his son... and they went forth from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Harran, and dwelt there.

Frequently Asked

Questions from partner agencies

When is the best season to run the Cradle of Civilizations tour?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal — comfortable for walking Göbekli Tepe and Mardin, with mild days across the Mesopotamian plain. The program runs year-round; summer is hot in the southeast, so we start site visits early, while winter departures are quiet and often better value for groups.

Is southeastern Türkiye a safe region for this tour?

Yes — Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Mardin are established cultural-tourism destinations served daily by domestic flights, and the whole route runs with a private licensed guide and driver. We monitor conditions continuously and are happy to brief your team; travellers should always confirm their own government's current travel advice before booking.

What group size does this program suit, and is there a minimum?

It is operated as a private tour, so it scales from couples and small families to full coaches. We typically confirm from around 2 pax upward; for larger culture or faith groups we assign additional guides and vehicles as needed. Tell us your expected pax and we will size the vehicle and guiding accordingly.

How much does the tour cost, and what does your net rate cover?

We quote net agency rates on application — there are no public prices, so you set your own retail margin. The rate covers 4 nights in 4–5★ hotels on half board, 4 lunches, the private Halfeti boat trip, all listed entrance fees, a private licensed guide and private transport throughout. International and domestic flights, personal expenses and tips are not included.

How do clients arrive and depart for this route?

The tour is an open-jaw itinerary: arrival is at Gaziantep Airport and departure is from Mardin Airport, both connected by frequent domestic flights to Istanbul and Ankara. Flights are not included, which lets you ticket them from your own market; we handle every transfer, hotel and site visit on the ground.

Do travellers need a visa for Türkiye?

Visa requirements depend on your clients' nationality; many travellers are visa-exempt or use the online e-Visa, while others apply in advance. We are a licensed DMC, not a visa authority, so please have your clients confirm the current rules for their passports before travel — we are happy to provide an invitation or confirmation letter for the booking.

Is there a single supplement for solo travellers?

Yes — hotel rates are based on double or twin occupancy, so a single supplement applies for guests requiring their own room. The supplement is set out in the net rate breakdown we send with your quote.
